Thursday July 5th at 12 noon Kitty Kovács, organist in Landakirkja in the Westman Islands, plays works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Tournemire og the beautiful Vocalisa by Rachmaninovs.
Admission is 2000 ISK.

Kitty Kovács, born in 1980 in Győr in Hungary, graduated from
the Music department of the Scéchenyi Istán University in her
home town with a diploma in piano and chamber music. After
working as an accompanist in Győr she went on to study
accompaniment at the Budapest Ferenc Liszt Academy. During
her years as a student she won prizes, e.g. first prize in 1997
in Salt Lake City and in 2000 she won third prize in the Chopin
competition in Hungary.
Kitty Kovács moved to Iceland in 2006 and has worked here as a
piano teacher and organist, from 2011 in The Westmann Islands
as organist at Landakirkja church and teacher at the local music
school. Kitty received her concert organist diploma this spring,
after having studied the organ for four years at the National
Church School of Music under the guidance of Lenka Mátéová.
