On Thursday June 28th at 12 noon Elísabet Þórðardóttir, organist in Kálfatjarnarkirkja, (Vogar Vatnsleysuströnd) plays the Klaisorgan in Hallgrímskirkja. The program includes the wonderful 5th organsonata by Mendelssohn, the well-known Andate cantabile by Widor as well as pieces by Gigout and Vierne (Carillon de Westminister).
Admission is 2.000 ISK.
Elísabet Þórðardóttir studied the piano and graduated from
the New Music School in Reykjavik in 2001 with Rögnvaldur
Sigurjónsson and Ragnar Björnsson as principal teachers.
2001‒2004 she studied at the “Musikhochschule Luzern” in
Switzerland. In 2012 Elísabet began her studies as a church
musician at the National Church School of Music under the
guidance of Björn Steinar Sólbergsson with graduation in the
spring of 2017 and soloist diploma in 2018. Since 2006 Elísabet
has taught the piano at the Hafnarfjörður Music School as well
as providing accompaniment. She has been the organist of
Kálfatjarnarkirkja church on the Reykjanes peninsula since 2012
and since 2017 also a part-time organist at Laugarneskirkja
church in Reykjavík.
