Kitty Kovács, born in 1980 in Győr in Hungary, graduated from the Music department of the Scéchenyi Istán University in her home town with a diploma in piano and chamber music. After working as an accompanist in Győr she went on to study accompaniment at the Bucarest Ferenc Liszt Academy. During her years as a student she won prizes, e.g. first prize in 1997 in Salt Lake City and in 2000 she won third prize in the Chopin competition in Hungary. Kitty Kovács moved to Iceland in 2006 and has worked here as a piano teacher and organist, from 2011 in The Westmann Islands as organist at Landakirkja church and a teacher at the local music school. The last four years Kitty has studied the organ at the National Church’s Music School receiving her organist diploma this spring under the guidance of Lenka Mátéová.
