Festive Luthermass 29. January at 11 am

In celebration of 500 years reformation that started when Martein Luther nailed 95 thesis on the castle walls of Wittenberg there will be festive mass on sunday 29. January at 11 am. That same day marks both the starting of the anniversary year and the birthday of Catherine of Bora, wife to Martein Luther.

Ms. Agnes M. Sigurðardóttir, bishop of Icelands, will preach and celebrant with rev. Kristján Valur Ingólfsson, rev. Sólveig Lára Guðmundsdóttir, dr. Sigurður Árni Þórðarson, rev. Irma Sjöfn Óskarsdóttir, dr. Arnfríður Guðmundsdóttir and dr. Sigurjón Árni Eyjólfsson. Members of the 500 years reformation committee will also celebrant in the service. Hallgrímskirkja’s Children and Youth choir will sing and conductor is Ása Valgerður Sigurðardóttir. Hallgrímskirkja’s Motett Choir sings. Organist is Björn Steinar Sólbergsson. Sunday school is led by Inga Harðardóttir, youth leader. Coffee after service.

At 12.15 will start a Barock concert called Elisabeth og Halldóra, Bach og Grallarinn. Conductor is Guðný Einarsdóttir. Free admission.
